Service providers and large enterprises are wrestling for mind and market share as they restructure their networks to attract an increasingly diverse set of clients. Once protected markets are now riddled with competition, and yesterday’s leisurely pace has become a race for survival. Next-Generation Network Services presents an overview of the converged IP network services, focusing on opportunities for service differentiation and introducing current service-oriented technology. These technologies allow service providers to build and operate networks that provide local, long distance, global, and mobile voice, data, and Internet services to businesses and consumers. Divided into two parts, this book arms readers with successful strategies can be deployed to broaden customer reach. Part I explores the service provider opportunity in the new era, discussing what has changed and why a service-centric focus is the new ascendancy. Part II introduces an extensive portfolio of network technology, with each chapter also discussing the market advantages and the service value of the technology, as well as any applicable Cisco products and solutions.
