The books explains the use of several tools that are somewhat hard to find in North America so I recommend that this book be bought as part of the How to Draw Manga: Getting Started kit so you will have the tools explained in the book. This helps greatly to get the most out of this book. If you already own this book and have no kits, get the How to Draw Manga Deluxe Official Kit which also has all the tools explained in How to Draw Manga: Getting Started (and you get another book on basic use of the tools for those that may need even more assistance becuase let’s face it these tools take getting used to). If you own the above and you find you need even more basic instruction then look into Draw Your Own Manga: All the Basics and Draw Your Own Manga: Beyond the Basics (both by Haruno Nagatomo).
